He completed his MBBS from Nilratan Sircar (NRS) Medical College, Kolkata. He completed his MD in specialty of General Medicine from Vivekananda Institute of Medical Sciences, Kolkata. He secured second rank in the All India Entrance Examination to enter the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi to study DM in the super-specialty of Endocrinology.
His vast clinical experience includes working in many academic posts in institutions such as Department of Medicine, Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education and Research (IPGMER & SSKM) Hospital, Kolkata, Department of Endocrinology, NRS medical College, Kolkata and Department of Endocrinology & Metabolism, AIIMS, New Delhi.
He has several publications in National and International journals including European Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolic Syndrome: Clinical Research & Reviews.
He believes in a rational approach, to deliver evidence based medical treatment with true empathy and care. He gives opportunity to his patient to narrate their problems in their own way, listens to them patiently with care and after clinical assessment discusses the relevant treatment options with possible consequences in an affectionate way which makes him truly acceptable to his patients. As most of the endocrine ailments like diabetes are lifestyle disorders, he takes time to discuss the diet and exercise plan customized to individual patient profile and relevant aspects of diabetes education to ensure complete diabetic care to his patients.

During May 21, I was diagnosed with high Blood Sugar and was referred to Dr Uttio Gupta by another physician. Since it was peak Covid second wave time, I called him and immediately Dr Gupta responded and we did our first teleconsulting. He was patient enough to hear me completely and then advised me medication along with a diet chart. We did a follow-up during August and I was advised to consult again during Nov/ Dec with relevant tests. The medicines he prescribed me worked like magic and thankfully my FBS, PPBS and HbA1C results are now very much under control and within the normal limits. Currently, I am monitoring and continuing with the same medication.
